Why families book this early
The first trimester can feel long. There’s often a gap of weeks between finding out you’re pregnant and your next scheduled appointment, and for a lot of parents — especially after a previous loss — hearing that heartbeat brings enormous peace of mind and makes it all feel real.
It’s also a lovely way to announce. Plenty of families record the heartbeat here and play it for grandparents that same evening, or hand over a bear with the sound tucked inside.
Being clear about what this is
This is elective, keepsake and bonding imaging only. We are not a diagnostic facility, we do not perform diagnostic exams and we don’t assess or comment on anything medical — that always belongs with your healthcare provider. Please keep every appointment they schedule for you. Read more about how elective ultrasound works and why it’s safe.
What comes next
Most families who start with a heartbeat visit come back twice more: a gender reveal from 14 weeks, then the 3D/4D Experience at 26–32 weeks for the portraits.
Common questions
- How early can you hear a baby's heartbeat on ultrasound?
- A heartbeat is usually detectable from around 6 weeks, which is when we start booking heartbeat sessions. Very early on it can be a flicker rather than a strong sound, and a few days can make a real difference.
- What does the heartbeat session include?
- A 2D scan, your baby's heartbeat played out loud in the room, a digital photo and video link, and free 8K rendering. You can also record the heartbeat into a heartbeat bear or other keepsake animal while you're here.
- Is this a medical or dating scan?
- No. Our sessions are elective keepsake and bonding imaging only — we are not a diagnostic facility and do not perform diagnostic exams. Keep every appointment your healthcare provider schedules.
- Will I see much of my baby at 6 to 10 weeks?
- You'll see the shape of your baby and that beautiful flicker of a heartbeat, but not facial detail — there simply isn't enough developed yet for 3D rendering to show much. Come back at 26–32 weeks for portraits.
- Can I bring my partner and family?
- Of course. All family and friends are welcome and both viewing rooms have large couches and chairs, so bring whoever you want with you.
