Heartbeat & early reassurance
This is the window for our Heartbeat Ultrasound. We confirm the heartbeat and capture a first digital photo and video clip. It is an emotional milestone, but the baby is still small, so facial detail is not yet visible.

Planning guide
Timing matters. Here is the complete week-by-week guide to when each ultrasound session is clearest, most meaningful and easiest to book in Knoxville.
One of the most common questions we hear is, “When should I come in for the best pictures?” The answer depends on what you want to see. Early scans are about connection and reassurance; mid-pregnancy scans reveal gender; and the third trimester is when 3D, 4D and HD Live images of your baby’s face are most dramatic.
This is the window for our Heartbeat Ultrasound. We confirm the heartbeat and capture a first digital photo and video clip. It is an emotional milestone, but the baby is still small, so facial detail is not yet visible.
Gender determination becomes reliable starting at 14 weeks. This is the perfect time for our Gender Reveal Ultrasound — combine 2D and 3D images with heartbeat audio and optional confetti cannons or balloon pop kits.
This is the sweet spot for detailed facial portraits. The baby has enough fat for rounded features, but still has room to move. We capture yawns, stretches, thumb-sucking and smiles in stunning HD Live clarity.
Some families return for a final look. Babies are bigger and more crowded at this stage, so positioning matters more. If baby is head-down and facing outward, we can still get beautiful late portraits.

During this window, the baby has developed enough facial fat to show chubby cheeks, lips and nose, but is still small enough to move freely. There is enough amniotic fluid for the ultrasound to create a clear “window,” and the baby is often active enough to capture smiles, yawns and stretches.
After 32 weeks, the baby is more crowded. Pictures are still possible — and sometimes even more detailed — but we may need a little more patience (or a second visit) if baby is facing the spine or pressed against the uterine wall.
Drink plenty of water for 2–3 days beforehand to keep amniotic fluid levels optimal.
Eat a light snack or drink something cold and fruity about 30 minutes before your session to encourage movement.
Schedule when your baby is usually most active — many babies are livelier after lunch or in the evening.
Wear a two-piece outfit so your belly can be exposed without changing clothes.
Come well hydrated, but use the restroom right before the scan so you are comfortable.
Bring family and friends who want to watch on the big screen — our two rooms seat 12 comfortably and many more in the large room.
